Did the Blackout Make me Paranoid?

I have come to realize something. I am not going to trust the grid and what it represents. I think every American should start thinking in the same terms. I am about to embark on a journey to become an Alternative Energy household. My fiance is not quite as gung-ho as I am, but I think I can get him to come around to my thinking.
It is something that in the month that we had the biggest blackout in our history that Mother Earth News ran a story on going solar. Perhaps it is divine providence? But I think that piece is worth looking at. The technology has gone a long way. Even the Northern Climates can now benefit from Solar Power combined with other power sources. Why rely on the idiots in the government to protect our livelihood when we can protect it ourselves by simply moving ourselves off of the grid? Some would call this radical. It's just Common Sense.

This looks like a very cool knitting site: http://www.heirloom-knitting.co.uk/beginners_guide1.html. One of these days I might try my hand at some lace knitting.

For no apparent reason, I decided to look up Square Dancing. I found a site that shows all the basic steps: http://www.squaredancecd.com/sdance.htm This is very cool. The gentleman who did this is quite talented!

Prevarication of Presidents?

I am thoroughly confused, befuddled, and dismayed with George W. Bush. Well, actually, that is not really true. I knew he was a politician, and thus prone to lying. But My Goodness, what a prevaricator he seems to be!  And folks believe him!

Now politicians lie - all of them.  I just think that a cowboy should be treated the same as an overeducated hillbilly.  Of course, I think all politicos are crooked, lyin', thievin', good-for-nothings.  Can't help it.  My earliest memories about politicians revolve around Watergate.  You remember that little pickle?  (And then I made the mistake of studying History. Nothing makes you lose faith in your fellow man faster!)

Now, if I had told a whopper like the president seems to have, I would have gotten a whuppin' but good.  I think most of us would have.  I don't really cotton to taking us into a war while warbling whoppers.  Just me.

The question we all have to ask now:

Is this just the tip of a vast iceberg?  Just how much misinformation has been handed down to us?

My personal thoughts are that it is all bunk if it comes from D.C. - but that's me.
